“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

 Galatians 2:20

Hello, I am Nio Gomez

Here's the BLUF...

By God's grace, I am:

  • a sinner saved by the Lord Jesus Christ
  • a husband
  • a father
  • a photographer, videographer, and all-around total gear nerd

That's the way my life is ordered in terms of priority and it serves as a basis for why I do what I do. I am a Christian man blessed with a bride and four kiddos who, in the Lord's providence, takes photos for a living. I think Colossians 3:17 is a verse that sums up my work ethos pretty well: "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." The reason I love taking photos is because I see each frame that I capture as an opportunity to give glory to my King, and I think God gave me a passion for photography at an early age.

I remember my father always documenting our family with a camera. It was something I became familiar with and enamored by as I grew up. Once I was able to sign up for an elective class in high school, I knew right away which one I wanted to sign up for. I took my first photography course in 2004, my junior year, and for four semesters I used my dad's 1988 Nikon N8008 for the class. I learned to shoot, develop, and print black and white photographs in the darkroom. We used Kodak Tri-X 400 for our class and I think it's one of the reasons why after all these years I still love the look of that specific film stock - I know it very well so it's become like an old friend. Fast forward two decades and nowadays you'll find me more often shooting digital, but I'll still enjoy loading up a roll of 35mm or medium format film for special occasions.

My passion for photography reached an all time high when I met the love of my life and when God blessed us with children. Through those seasons of life changes, I think started to learn why my dad was so intent on photographing everything. Now that I myself am a father, I get it and it's become kind of like a full circle moment for me. Moreover, I think the Lord has grown in me a desire to use this passion to serve others by documenting life through photographs. It's why I've adopted this tagline: To Document Life in Light of God's Grace.

This is why I do what I do. It is my desire to document life in light of God's grace and I hope to help you do the same - namely, to display a life lived to the glory of Christ.
